Site The Graphics...
I designed this graphic set using the work of Leonardo
DaVinci. Why did I choose this theme? Simple... Leonardo
was an artist. He was interested in the possibility of
flight. He is from another time and place, and the
graphics convey a sense of antiquity. These things appeal
to me because they address several of my main interests
and objectives.
Color
Choice...
I chose a monotone look reminiscent of a blueprint. The
monotone is an artistic expression... something different
than what most folks are doing. The metaphysical aspect
of that appeals to me. The blueprint look also conveys
that this is about design.
Fonts...
I selected Bauhaus LT (download) for the page titles. This font is very
slim and modern looking, which provides a nice contrast
with the DaVinci graphics. The body of the pages are set
in Verdana... for the same reason. Menu selections are in
Arial, which is a
narrower font than Verdana, but has a similar look. The
narrow font fits the menu area better.
How
does this apply to you?
I hope this information might demonstrate how I select a
theme for the visual aspect of a site I am designing.
Each site is different, and must convey a unique
personality. Please browse the portfolio to get an idea
of how many diverse styles I have designed for various
site owners. It is always my aim to combine my artistic
vision with that of my client, resulting in an aesthetic
site that conveys meaning with the graphics and layout
(in addition to the content, itself). One glance should
make the visitor wish to remain and explore. We have 30
seconds or less to capture interest... this is why I do
what I do.
