2000 Winners
- Here you'll find
lighthouses, nautical stuff for PSP (Paint Shop
Pro), a little Stevie Ray Vaughan, and a lot of
well done graphics. This site is very nicely
done, and offers some great things for the
visitor. Viewers using smaller screens will lose
some of the impact, but even so, worth a visit.
-
- Susan
Branch
- This site is one of
the prettiest and coziest I have seen. Susan
Branch is an artist who's work is so charming...
she writes books by hand and illustrates them. At
her site, you can learn more about her, see
samples of her work, and get a recipe or free
stationery. You'll just love it!
-
- Basil's
Art
- Original digital
paintings... the artist uses a unique
interpretation of color, perspective, depth, and
contour. The artist's work is surrealistic and
ethereal. The gallery selection page has a very
nice mouseover effect. Worth a visit!
-
- Anand's
Homepage
- This site is very
well designed and interesting. An average visitor
can spend quite a bit of time here, and if you
have any interest in exploration of self or the
world around you, you'll bookmark it. Topics
include: Personality types, Ancient Mysteries,
Cosmic Mysteries, Undiscovered Mind,Unexplained
Power of Animals, Puzzles, IQ Test and Optical
Illusions.
-
- The
Keep
- This site is very
streamlined and crisp... it houses a vast archive
of endangered and/or classic games. This is
unlike most sites claiming to house games. Here,
they are so clearly defined and the information
is presented in a way that really does justice to
the subject. I am impressed with the simple and
attractive design, as well as the high level of
content for the subject matter.
-
- Wyldcard
Studio
- Pop-up ads really
annoy me... and this site has a ton of them. It
is, however, one site that is well worth putting
up with this idiocy to see. The graphics are
fantastic, and if you like Flash, this is a great
example. There is not a lot of extensive content,
but there is room to grow. This site receives
this award based on the graphic design aspect,
which is good enough to overlook the ads. Highly
artistic presentation!
-
- Hannsjoerg Scheid
- Wow. Impressive.
Visually stunning. Artist/musician/producer/composer
Hannsjoerg Scheid's site is absolutely worth
visiting. In flash and standard viewing versions,
you can experience the art and music of this
artist first hand. The design and graphics are
superior. Kudos!
-
- Cyclura
- This site is just
beautifully designed. Navigation is wonderful and
the graphics are really excellent. On top of that...
it has great content. This site is devoted to
lizards... and it isn't what you'd expect based
on that description! Go take a look... I promise
you will not regret it!
-
- Amethyst
Journey
- The poetry of MJM
presented in a stylishly unique way... this site
truly is a journey into the imagination. This
site is just lovely in every regard.
-
- Mitch Klink
- This site is the
portfolio of technical artist, Mitch Klink. I
found the site very straight forward and
appealing... and his work very clean and of high
quality. This is an excellent example of what a
personal page can be... and often isn't.
-
- Leahy
- The unofficial
website of the Lakefield, Ontario based Celtic
family band, Leahy. Contains up to date news,
tour dates, upcoming media appearances, articles,
profiles, fan interaction, and so on. The site is
very well done, and has a great deal of
interesting content.
-
- Perfectory
- A personal collection
of art, literature, and music. Art galleries
showcase original artwork, as well as technical
art discussions. Literary reviews feature
examples of high calibre writing from a variety
of cultural viewpoints. Music reviews offer
selections from a variety of musical genres. This
site is very aesthetic, and definitely worth a
stop.
-
- 4visions Art Gallery
- This site is
beautiful to browse, and the quality of the art
housed there is haunting and surreal. I highly
recommend it.
-
- BEAD - Dead Leaves
- It is the official
site for one of PA's most electrifying original
bands. The navigation menu is what first caught
my eye... very unique. The band's songs are quite
good, with an accoustic undertone to strong rock.
-
- Museum of Fred
- This site is
entertainingly presented... and the artist's use
of color appealed to me greatly. You may find him
soon among the Painted Poetry pages or at Verse
Libre (smile).
-
- The Olive Tree
World
- This is actually a
commercial site, but I liked the look. There is
some interesting historical information as well.
Kudos.
-
- Gathering of
Artists
- Atlantic Canada can
be proud of this collection of artisans, whose
work is available through this austere site. The
prifiles of the artists are entertaining and well
written, and the design is very crisp and
appealing. Nicely done.
